Spider Solitaire (1 Suit) — How to play
This Spider Solitaire embed opens in the one-suit version: two decks of Spades are dealt across ten tableau columns. The top card in each column is face up; the remaining cards are face down, with five stock deals of ten cards each.
Build cards downward by rank. Only a consecutive run in the same suit can move together; a mixed-suit stack can move only one card at a time. Complete a same-suit King-to-Ace run to clear it from the board.
An empty column can hold any card, and this version lets you deal from the stock while a column is empty. The goal is to clear all eight complete runs. TrySolitaire offers other suit counts from its full Spider game page.
Spider Solitaire (1 Suit) — Rules
Build cards downward by rank. A movable group must be consecutive and share one suit. A complete same-suit sequence from King through Ace is removed.
This embedded version uses two decks of Spades only, ten columns and a 50-card stock that deals one card to each column five times. Any card can fill an empty column.
A stock deal is allowed even when a column is empty in this version. The full TrySolitaire game offers one-, two- and four-suit Spider modes; this embed opens the one-suit game.
Spider Solitaire (1 Suit) — Tips and strategy
Prioritize moves that reveal face-down cards. Each revealed card may extend a same-suit run or change which sequence you can build.
Build same-suit runs when possible. Mixed-suit placements may be legal, but they can prevent a sequence from moving together later.
Use an empty column as working space. Before filling it, consider whether it can split a sequence, uncover a card or help connect a same-suit run.
There are five stock deals, each adding a row across the columns. Before a deal, use exposed cards to improve the layout and think about where the new cards will land. This version still permits a deal with an empty column.
